Zero the Hero visited!!

Paine Art Center field trip 9/28

Picture
Great questions from our kids really impressed the Director and staff of the Paine Art Museum! It was an interesting talk the Director gave us about the family portraits in this fascinating show of William Merritt Chase's paintings .

Thanks Mrs. Koplitz for setting this visit up! and Thanks also to all our generous drivers.

Starting to Think about CIMI!

Picture
Although I have yet to get firm numbers from our trip planner, we need to be fund raising! Every parent will be responsible for organizing fundraisers for the group.

The kids are putting together plans for a bake sale at the October Volleyball tournament. We hope to have a good start on the bottom line from this sale, so start baking!!

Michelle Kretzmann is putting together a holiday craft sale. Do you craft? Does anyone in your family craft? bring your crafts to the school office to help us out!

The fun Run was a big success!

We raised $225 and several bags of food for the food pantry! All while getting a nice walk and lots of fresh air. All around good day!

7th Grade Isle Royale Trip!!

Picture
What a great trip we had this year! The weather could not have been better! We hiked and hiked and hiked, ate berries (Thimble berries are the hands down favorite!), saw Canada, talked about moose and wolves, studied the geology of the island, jumped in superior (BRRR!) and had a great time becoming a group of friends.

Thanks to everyone who supports this trip, what an awesome experience for us all.

Successful progressive dinner!

The progressive dinner was a big success, with over 135 people enjoying the student's culinary creations. The 7th and 8th graders supplied desserts-heavy on the chocolate-:) and enjoyed by all! We DO love food in this room!!

Ernie's Banana Snack Cake
1/2 C shortening
3/4 C packed brown sugar
1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
1 C ripe mashed bananas (2-3 medium)
1 tea vanilla
2 C flour
1 tea baking soda
1 tea salt
1/2 C buttermilk
1/2 C chopped nuts
Frosting (optional)
1/2 C packed brown sugar
1/4 C butter
6 TBL milk
2-1/2 to 3 C confectioners sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream the shorting and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in bananas and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in nuts. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick insert inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.  Frosting: combine the brown sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cool to lukewarm. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until frosting reaches spreading consistency. Frost the cooled cake. Yield: 2 servings
